Bring in our problems Seminar, y’all (BIOPSY)

Each week, we'll discuss a couple of problems brought in by seminar participants, and try to make some progress.

Some general guidelines:

Please come up with problems! You can email them to me beforehand (please do!) or present them during the seminar.
Problems should be accessible to a first or second year graduate student, and should be broadly around algebraic or arithmetic geometry, though it's fine to mix in some other fields as long as the problem is sufficiently accessible. It's OK to bring in questions that are, say, inspired by qual problems, though they should be amenable to interesting modifications or generalizations.
The goal is not necessarily to solve a problem in an hour, but just to discuss it and think about it. If we are making progress we can keep discussing the same problem for multiple weeks. Ideally some of these problems might develop into research papers, or even thesis topics.
As usual, there are no stupid questions -- the seminar should be a judgment free zone. It's fine to ask about something you've found confusing in a class or paper you're reading, as long as it's sufficiently accessible to the rest of the seminar participants.
